Molecular Biological Examinations (PCR)

Next to offering the „classical“ cultural and serological methods, AniCon Labor GmbH also offers extensive molecular biological analysis in its diagnostic lab.

We routinely conduct PCRs (mostly using real-time PCR tests) concerning diverse pathogens. When conducting our routine procedures, it is crucial to us that our customers are informed about the results as soon as possible after receiving the samples.

We also offer our validated methods to partner labs so that they can establish and run the procedures in their own facilities. During this cooperation with our partner labs, individual counselling and assistance are very important to us.

Should our procedures not include a testing method for the pathogen you are looking for, we will be happy to develop a new molecular biological testing method in accordance with your requirements.

Apart from detecting pathogens we also conduct foodstuffs and feedingstuffs analysis for genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

The microbiological characterisation of pathogenic isolates that are qualified for the production of flock specific vaccines is another one of our labs vital focus areas. The isolates are analysed using different specific PCR methods (including ERIC-, BOX-, nested- and real time (RT-) PCR) and sequencing.

With these tests it is possible to genotypically classify the isolates with regard to their species, subtypes and potential virulence based on the detected target genes like surface determinant or toxin genes as well as the sequences. In the end, the aim of the molecular biological characterisation is to choose exactly the right isolates, from the isolated pathogens in the flock, to produce the flock specific vaccine that is needed to build up a vaccinal protection in the respective flock.
