Microbiology

Our diagnostic lab works with all kinds of veterinary diagnostic samples. Amongst the sent in samples are swabs, tissue samples of diseased animals, faecal samples, boot swabs, surface pads, adhesive film tests, dust samples and further hygiene environment samples. We also test eggs, milk and semen.

AniCon Test Spectrum

We work with the complete spectrum of microbiological pathogens.

Initially all samples are cultured by standard bacteriological methods. In the next step isolates are characterised according to their biochemical, serological and molecular biological characteristics. On this basis the isolates are assigned to a specific species, serotype, genotype etc.

One focus in our bacteriological work lies in poultry respiratory diseases. In this field we offer serotyping of Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale and Riemerella anatipestifier amongst others.

Naturally, we also offer the serotyping of Escherichia coli (O1, O2, O78) as well as Salmonella. If required we can distinguish between the vaccine- and the field-strain for Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium. Stool samples are tested regarding Shigella, Salmonella and Campylobacter spp.

The isolated pathogens can be archived if requested and will then be immediately available again to produce flock specific vaccines when necessary.
